Resources for Finding Alumni

By Robert Bao, Editor, MSU Alumni Magazine

Because of privacy laws, MSU is limited in how we can respond to public requests for alumni searches. Here are some alternatives that you might find helpful.

1) Every five years or so, the MSU Alumni Association publishes a membership directory. You have to join the MSUAA to receive it. In 1999, for the first time ever, the MSUAA published a university-wide directory, listing all alumni. For more information, contact the MSUAA at 517-355-8314.

2) If you have very detailed information (e.g. middle initial, maiden name, graduation year, major, date of birth, etc.) of the person you wish to look up, you can send a request to Karen Moser, MSU Alumni Association, 242 Spartan Way, East Lansing, MI 48824-2005. Include in your letter a stamped letter to your friend, leaving the envelope blank. Also include a stamped envelope addressed to yourself. If we can find a good address, we will forward the letter. If not, the letter will be sent back to you.

3) You can also try some commercial search engines like Switchboard, Yahoo People Search, and Who Where. Although these are neither sponsored by nor affiliated with Michigan State, they might be helpful.

4) Finally, you can join the MSU Alumni Association and attend class reunions, Homecoming, the Kedzie Reunion event and other events attended by fellow alumni. Check our Upcoming Events via our web site . Call the MSUAA (517-355-8314) for more information.
