Over 230 people attended The Kedzie Reunion on June 9,
2006, including 99 from the class of 1956. All graduates of 1956 and
before were invited to attend this annual event hosted by the MSU Alumni
Association and held at the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center on the
campus of Michigan State University.
The day began at 8 am with Breakfast with the Dean and continued with
several presentations such as Safety In The Home, the MSU Family Research
Initiative and more. There was also a panel discussion by students from
the Student Alumni Foundation, who currently attend Michigan State University.
The students discussed what life is like at MSU today and answered questions
posed by the Kedzie participants.
After the morning presentations a group photo of the Class of 1956 was taken
on the east patio of the Kellogg Center.
The Class of 1956 was honored at the Kedzie Luncheon and Induction Ceremony.
Mr. Chris Holman, Publisher of the Greater Lansing Business Monthly,
served as MC. MSU President Lou Anna Kimsey Simon welcomed the group
and made opening remarks. Mr. J. Paul Thompson, who represented the Class
of 1955, handed the gavel to Class of 1956 representative Mrs. Rhosan
Dobben Stryker, who shared her memories of MSU with the audience.
The Kedzie Cane Award was presented to Martha Bachman Thompson, class
of 1929 and Mr. Howard Hunter, class of 1928 as the oldest alumna and
alumnus attending the Kedzie Reunion.
Following the luncheon and induction ceremony, the Kedzie participants
enjoyed a bus tour of campus and a walking tour of the new addition to
Spartan Stadium that is now the new home of the MSU Alumni Association.
The tour was followed by a reception and a visit by "Sparty" at
Cowles House.
It was a great day for all...!
