Dear
MSUAA Regional Clubs, Constituent Groups and National Board Members:
A hearty GREETINGS from East Lansing! The campus is a little
quieter with a summer semester underway; a smaller portion of the student
population is here for classes as a lot of campus infrastructure repair
and maintenance is underway. You'll see the changes this fall as construction
activities wrap-up!
CONGRATULATIONS to Central Florida club
president Debbie Ramirez on the birth of her son, Jordan!
We hear on good authority that the "newest" member of the Spartan family
arrived in the world after almost 18 hours of labor Jordan David John
Ramirez was born on June 2, 2003 at 10:45 PM. (See picture below)
Congratulations, too, to the MSU Alumni Club of West
Michigan on one of its most successful Freshmen Welcoming Picnics
ever. In spite of cold weather and rain, more than 200 people attended
the event on Wednesday night at Johnson Park. It helped to have
a roaring fire in the picnic shelter and some great catered food!
According to club president Jackie Taylor, 60 new students from the
Grand Rapids area brought their families. Members of the MSUAA's Student
Alumni Foundation lead a breakaway discussion session with the new students
as club board members brought alumni and friends up-to-date on news about
club and University activities (see pictures below)
Two new club event photo galleries are now "live" on the MSU Alumni Web

A number of great events take place this weekend and during the upcoming
week with clubs around the United States. The MSU Alumni Club of
Jackson County's is holding its annual golf outing and scholarship dinner
today at Hankerd Hills Golf Club in Pleasant Lake (Michigan) According
to club president Steve Nason and Golf Committee Chairperson Vivian
Cobb, more than 50 golfers are expected to participate, with more than
65 attending the dinner immediately following. For more information,
go to /clubs/Clubevents/details.cfm?id=372
The MSU Alumni Club of Metropolitan New York is off to
the races with a club event scheduled at the 135th Annual Belmont Stakes.
According to club officer Paul Gaykowski, Spartans can have a great
time for a low price. For more information, go to /clubs/Clubevents/details.cfm?id=418
The Top of the State MSU Alumni Club is
holding its annual Bob Carey Golf outing this weekend. This popular
event is an attraction for alumni and friends of the University in a two-county
area in the northwest area of the State. Club President Chris Wacholz
tells us that the event is being held at Charlevoix's Belvedere Golf Course.
For more information, please go to: /clubs/Clubevents/details.cfm?id=411
The Tampa Bay Alumni Club is holding its
annual BBQ by the Bay event on Sunday, June 8, at San Philippe Park at Safety
Harbor. Club President Ken Eldridge tells us more than 100
people have sent RSVP's for the event that features catered food AND a very
special guest from the Spartan Football Office. More information
can be found at the club's web site, http://www.tampabayspartans.com
Tuesday, June 10, is the date for the highly popular Berrien
County Steak and Suds event. More than 400 people are expected
at this year's event - one of the largest and most active alumni club events
in the United States. Club board officer Larry Smith
says this year's event includes several representatives from the new coaching
staff of the Spartan Football team, plus other University representatives.
This event typically draws a large number of folks from the Berrien County
community that support the club and its scholarships programs - many of
whom never graduated from Michigan State. For more information, go
