MSUAA Club News, MSU Alumni Association
Dear
MSUAA Regional Clubs, Constituent Groups and National Board Members:
Here's a brief update of news about regional club events recently reported
to the MSU Alumni Association:
Jim Reinhard, President of the MSU Alumni Club of Los Angeles
tells us the club is sponsoring its popular annual wine tasting event.
According to Jim:
- "It's wine
tasting time and we have a chance to see if these wine experts in the northern
part of our great State can stomp on grapes as well as they say they can.
Join us at the Wine Tasting House, 2311 Cotner Avenue, West Los Angeles
at 5:30 p.m, Pacific time, on Friday, January 31. It lasts
until about 8 p.m. and it's first come, first served, so punctuality is
very important. The cost is $20 and includes wine and appetizers.
Contact Barbara Lau for more information at BLau@riinc.biz
or call her at 310.842-8677."
Bob Workman,
President of the MSU Alumni Club of Tucson (Arizona) says the club
has planned a special alumni dinner featuring Wendy Wilkins, Dean of
the College
of Arts and Letters.
It's scheduled for Friday, February 21st, at the Marriott-University Park near
the University of Arizona. A no-host bar (cash bar) will be available
at 6:00 PM, Mountain Time, with dinner at 7:00 PM. Cost is $27.50 per
person. Dean Wilkins will be making a presentation about the University
and developments in the College. For more information, Contract Bob at
(520) 531-1300 (daytime) or (520) 742-5898 (evenings). You can send a
message to Bob via e-mail at

Robin Volden, President of the Rocky
Mountain Alumni Club
sent us a great report of their annual football gathering they held recently
at - my favorite name for an alumni gathering place - the Giggling Grizzly.
(I do not know how to make a Grizzly giggle, but I'm sure members of the Rocky
Mountain Club do!) Robin tells us that more than 30 people attended the
vent, including former MSU Football player Ron Alling, Senior.
Ron was captain of the Spartan football team in 1939, and received his degree
in 1940. His son, Ron Alling, junior, also attended (see photo below).
To contact Robin, send a message to robin.volden@nelnet.net Visit the club's web site at http://www.msu.edu/~msuaa043/ and check out their updated
Calendar of Events page. (See photo of the Allings below)
Alan Offen, Secretary for the MSU
Alumni Club of Rochester,
New York, tells us that the club recently sponsored an exclusive Hockey Night
with the Blue Cross Arena. Mark Palazzo, of Pittsford Capital, donated
a private luxury box at the arena for the game. Local alumni helped raise
more than $325.00 towards the club's scholarship fund at the event. A
special treat for Spartans was watching professional hockey and a team with
former Spartan Hockey team member (and Hobey Baker winner) Ryan Miller.
To send a note to Alan, please Sparty6165@aol.com
Todd Tamlyn, President of the MSU
Alumni Club of Puget Sound
(Seattle), says members of the club attended a professional basketball game
between the Seattle Seahawks and the San Antonio Spurs. Spartans gathered
before the game for an exclusive reception for club members and were treated
to a visit by former MSU basketball greats Kevin Willis and Steve
Smith. Contact Todd by e-mail at toddt47@attbi.com (See
