Memories
from Village Life in the Dordogne
6/13-21/03
In
France's Perigord region, all of France's provincial charms have been
distilled into one of the world's most beautiful towns, Sarlat-la Caneda.
It is a feast for the palate as well as the eyes; close to Bordeaux, Sarlat
is also France's center for foie gras, truffles, walnuts and strawberries,
the quintessence of Gallic cuisine.
With the camaraderie of fellow alumni and friends we experienced one of
the most charming and traditional regions of Southwest France, the Perigord
Noir. We visited a marvelous outdoor market in Sarlat, took fascinating
excursions through villages to the prehistoric painted caves of Les Eyzies-de-Tayac,
enjoyed 12th-century castles, strolled though medieval cities fortified
long ago, in the time of the Hundred Years' War and much, much more.
Please take a few moments and gaze through the pictures of this beautiful
region of Southwest France.
